Canadian business and technology news site The Logic Deputy Managing Director April fong and managing editor Jordan timm posted the following announcement on Thursday:
We are delighted to announce that Jesse snyder joins The Logic as our first correspondent in Alberta.
Jesse is currently a parliamentary reporter for the National Post, where he writes on the economy, the nation’s finances, and global affairs. Throughout his 10-year career, he has explored the intersection of business and public policy, both in Ottawa and in his home province of Alberta.
Before moving east, Jesse was a Calgary-based energy reporter for the Financial Post. His coverage of the resource sector took him from the diamond mines of the Northwest Territories to Beijing and Hong Kong, where he reported on the rapid influx of Chinese capital to the Alberta oil sands.
Before joining the Post, he worked for Alberta Venture and Alberta Oil magazines, and reported from Colombia and Mongolia for an investor magazine focused on commodity markets.
Jesse is excited to return to Alberta to cover the energy transition, one of the most important stories in the country. Canada’s economy has traditionally depended on oil and gas. What happens in Alberta in the years to come will have a profound impact on both our future prosperity and the health of the planet. Jesse will report on the rise of green technology, how legacy energy companies are evolving and the emergence of new players, as well as the impact of all this change on the people and places that have depended on the resource industry. It will also cover Alberta’s emerging technology sector and the province’s drive to attract innovative companies.
Jesse will be based in Calgary, and his first day will be November 15th. Join us in welcoming him to the team.
