Srilanka race adds flights on Nairobi route

SriLankan Airlines will increase its frequency on the Nairobi-Colombo route from the end of October due to increasing passenger demand from Asia. The airline that launched operations on the route in April says flights will increase from one to two a week.

Passengers will pay an average fare of Sh90,800 ($ 820) on a return air ticket en route. “The flight will reduce the travel time between the two destinations to six hours,” Ruwan Fernando, CEO of Mayleen Kenya Limited, the passenger sales agent for SriLankan Airlines in Kenya, told Shipping and Logistics in an interview yesterday.

According to the next schedule, the first flight will depart Colombo on Monday at 12:30 am to arrive in Nairobi at 0425 am. The flight will depart Nairobi on the same day (Monday) at 6:25 PM to arrive in Colombo at 03:30 AM on Tuesday.

The second flight will depart Colombo on Thursday at 10:45 a.m. to arrive in Nairobi at 2:40 p.m. The return flight will depart Nairobi at 04:40 on Friday to arrive in Colombo at 1:55 PM. “The type of flight will be an Airbus A330-300 configured for 269 seats in economy class and 28 in business class,” he said.
