EST Gee’s new album I never felt good is out now, and listeners are very pleased with some local collaboration there. Gee’s lyricist colleague in Louisville, Jack Harlow, with whom he has already collaborated three times, appears on “Backstage Passes” and has fans pondering his body of work in general.
Harlow opens the record saying, “I became what you fantasized about becoming / I had to stop sending music because someone fucked up and leaked something / All the girls I messed with know what’s up, but they keep coming back.” / I’m pretty sure right now they don’t want to know the secrets I’m keeping for them.”
Gee joins the song around the one minute mark and swaps lines back and forth with the “First Class” rapper before walking off on his own. “Light camera action / Don’t stop, keep going, it’s relaxing / You don’t come on tour, how do you behave? / She saw my Con’, she has to ask me,” Gee raps.
“Backstage Passes” has fans saying the two have never missed a song together and some fans are even requesting a collaborative project, which Gee has talked about before. Their previous albums together include “The Department,” “Rotten,” and “Route 66.” With such an impressive track record and Gee’s seal of approval, a joint project between the two may not be such a far-fetched idea.
