The body of a missing nine-year-old boy was found inside a plastic bag near his home in India’s national capital, Delhi.
Police officers said Wednesday that they found the body inside a plastic backpack on the balcony of a house in the Uttam Nagar area that falls in the Dwarka neighborhood of West Delhi, where he lived.
Initial police investigations revealed that the boy was strangled when wound marks were found on the neck and other parts of the body.
The body was later sent for an autopsy. reported the Hindustan Times Newspaper.
Delhi police officers received a call on Wednesday afternoon at around 1:15 pm, informing them about the body.
Officials have been inspecting the crime scene and are monitoring CCTV footage from cameras installed in and around the neighborhood to find the culprits and sequence the events that led to the boy’s murder.
The boy had disappeared on Monday. His parents had filed a kidnapping complaint under section 363 of the Indian Penal Code, the country’s penal code, with the police.
Family members and relatives of the child are being questioned by officials, and there are reports that some people have been detained for questioning.
