According to a 2018 study by OnePoll, 50% of American employees feel unable to take a proper lunch break. While 30% of these employees eat lunch at their desk every day.
But taking a lunch break is very important because we as human beings are not cut out to work for that long. Did you know that we are only productive about 25% of the day? So what good is working during lunch break? Take that lunch break! And we have 4 tips to make the most of that lunch break.
1. Watch some Netflix
Did you know that there are many special lists online that are made for your lunch break? Immerse yourself in another world and watch a simple and fun TV show. However, seeing that on your work computer is not a great idea, an email or message could slip in and distract your mind easily. rent a Macbook or rent a laptop for these occasions. It is usually much cheaper than buying a new one. However, it is also better for the environment. Ready for laptop or TV? Turn on your favorite TV show and enjoy.
2. The lunchtime workout
Exercising is one of the best ways to add in your lunch break if you have a busy day. It’s an easy way to fit some physical activity into your day. And if you exercise during the day, you don’t have to set your alarm clock very early in the morning. Or you don’t have to go after you’ve finished your long day at work. Most employees are too tired after work, so there is a strong chance that they won’t come after work, even if they say it in the morning. But exercising during your lunch break is no longer a problem. The biggest benefit of all this: you will go back to work with more energy than before.
3. Start meditating
These days, it’s all about mental health. And we think that’s good. The most proven way to improve your mental health is to practice meditation. To some, it may seem boring, but in reality it is not. You can easily download one of the many meditation apps and start meditating during your lunch break. It doesn’t necessarily mean that you have to be alone in a room in some kind of yoga position. You can even meditate during a walk. As long as you are aware of everything in your head and clarify it for a moment.
4. Change your scenery
Get away from your current environment. Whatever you do, don’t spend your lunch break at your desk. Because this desk is your workspace and you associate it with work, you won’t be able to rest if you are still near it. Change the scene!
